We are ahead (from Hotline):

...the candidate that led the balloting in Dec. leads the balloting in Jan.: Howard Dean.

-- But before Deaniacs and anti-Deaniacs scream in (excitement/disgust/angst), the Vermonster appears to be facing a stiff challenge from Martin Frost, who has one of the larger home-state DNC delegations in his pocket. Even when combining 1st and 2nd choices, Dean does not yet exceed 40%, while Frost is lingering just under 30%.

-- Beyond Dean and Frost, no other candidate receives double-digit support, though Fowler, Webb and Rosenberg have some promising 2nd choice support. The candidate who fared the poorest in the survey is Tim Roemer, who received almost three times more "last choice" support than he did 1st/2nd choice support combined.

I im'd back and forth yesterday with Kevin Thurman, who headed up the DraftHoward.com site and the current TV ads preaching Dean For Chair, detailing my feel of the race. Pretty spot on eh Kevin? Roemer gets dropped first, his support goes to Frost, Fowler's mostly to Dean, Rosenberg's support splits between Dean & Frost, Webb's support nearly all goes to Dean. That's the take right now.

frost ads (none / 0)

does anyone on this blog have the ability to convert VHS format video into mpeg, avi, or wmv?

i was going through some old videotapes this week and i realised i have one of the pro-bush frost commercials on tape. since they can't be found online anywhere, i was hoping to get them converted and uploaded on my site.

if anyone can help me out, please shoot me an email (click my profile).

I'll bet if you do that, you'll get a letter from Frost's attorney for copyright infringement.

As for converting them, any computer with a video capture card with A/V in jacks can do that.

These shouldn't just go on your website. One of the pro-Dean groups should make an ad that uses Frost's ad and raise money to put it on TV. (I'd gladly contribute.)

If you can get the political shows to cover the ad, you wouldn't even really have to air it, or not more than a token amount. It worked for the Swift Boat Liars....

Dean got it exactly right when he accused Democrats like Frost (not by name of course) of falling victim to "Stockholm Syndrome"!

FROST IS AN OLD GUARD DISASTER (none / 0)

Why oh why, does this old guard guy who just lost his own election ,qualify for DNC head? He's the insiders choice, yet Dem members have no choice but to see the party sink with a man who projects an uninspiring and dull image, poor verbal skills, and no convincing new ideas, or vision. I saw him address [Southern caucuss on Cspan ]with other candidates; was unconvincing, spoke in platitudes and blather, and felt he should be Chair.....because------------. We are in for MORE FAILURE if Frost becomes chair. He is a cautious weak choice, (with no recognition), and this will be a DISASTER!!

Let's all calm down here.

First, it's only fair to admit that I am a fan of Frost's. Also, this post, unlike some above, is not designed to tear down any other candidate. [We are ALL Democrats here people...COM'ON!]

Anyhow, my only motivation for writing this is not that I think Frost would be a good chairman--getting the facts out, and preventing the wild distortion of the truth, is.

So about these ads:

a) Is Bush in them? Yes.

b) Is Bush being based? No.

Given a) and b), does that mean Frost loves Bush. NO. Absolutely not. Not even close.

Look, the ads pointed to one (1) specific issue: airline safety. Raise your hands if you like feeling safe on an airplane. Exactly. It's not a partisan issue.

So why, then, was Frost using Bush in the ads?

Fair question.

Well, a bill regarding airline safety came before the House. 409 members voted for it (with Bush). 10 (JUST TEN STUPID MEMBERS) voted against it. Pete Sessions, who is both dumb and was Frost's opponent, was one of those ten. Yeah, I know, he's a moron.

Anyhow, the point of Frost's ad, in a district with a DPI of like 35%, was to show that Sessions was too conservative and radical even for most Republicans. It wasn't embracing Bush: it you think it did, then as a corrolary you would also think that Nancy Pelosi and Eddie Bernice Johnson and Dennis Kucinich, etc, etc also hugged Bush by virtue of being one of the 409.

My point is this: separate political strategy (forcing moderate Republicans to reject a radically conservative nutjob (Sessions)) from political ideology (Martin Frost is about as strong and passionate a Democrat as you're going to find).
