New Zogby Poll

Information galore in the New Zogby Poll:

May 10-13, 985 LV, MoE 3.2 (April 15-17 results in parenthesis):

Bush's Job Rating
Approve: 42 (48)
Disapprove: 58 (53)

Trial Heat
Kerry: 47 (45)
Bush: 42 (45)
Nader: 3 (3)
Undecided: 7 (6)

Blue States
Kerry: 49
Bush: 38
Undecided: 8

Red States
Kerry: 45
Bush: 45
Undecided: 7

(2000 CNN exit poll results in parenthesis)
White
Bush: 46 (54)
Kerry: 42 (Gore 42)

Hispanic
Kerry: 59 (Gore 62)
Bush: 39 (35)

African-American
Kerry: 85 (Gore 90)
Bush: 6 (9)

Asian
Bush: 63 (41)
Kerry: 37 (Gore 55)

I'd worry about Kerry slipping relative to Gore among Asian-Americans, but the Asian sample size in this poll is probably very small and led to the skewed results.

Kerry tied with Bush in Red states!? Wow-wee!

with this poll if we're honestly to believe that Bush is tied with Kerry in Red States...

This is an outlier.  I grew up in Texas, am living in North Carolina, just vacationed in South Carolina for a week, and am moving to Georgia... and I assure you... Bush ain't tied in any of those states.

My Experience (none / 0)

I recently took a plan ride over Utah. Based on that experience, I can assure you that Utah is  Bush 56, Kerry 37. :-)

Sum of red states (none / 0)

Porbably not in those, but in others.

North Carolina... (none / 0)

Is probably the swingiest (my own word) of the crimson-red states I can imagine...

Zogby results (none / 0)

Zogby's polls have often closely matched those on election day.  I can imagine that red states such as Ohio and New Hampshire are now leaning Kerry.  Still, Kerry has got to be behind in at least 3/4 of the red states.
