The meme that Bush is moving to center and that he shares America's values must be destroyed.  The Gonzales appointment is the best place to put that myth on trial.

That's the why they should, and the why they have the right to.  If the Senate Democrats don't knock Gonzales around like the pinata he is, I'm gonna be majorly pissed.

The Democrats need to make the GOP pay for going after Daschle. A cohesive and determined minority can be very effective if they pick their battles. Don't believe Bush when he says he wants bipartison support. That is his way of neutering Dems before forcing their genitalia down their throats.

But the House ought to be more aligned with the popular vote, as every congressional district includes roughly the same number of people. Is it just gerrymandering, or do a significant number of  "divided government" voters break towards Democrat senators and Republican representatives?

As to Gonzales, he did what any GOP WH counsel would have done.  I don't think we are going to get a more liberal AG than him.  Plus, if we fight him hard and he doesnt get approved, we will alienate a lot of hispanic voters.
