Is there any site that has a good listing of the state legislature results overall? From looking at newspaper websites from around the country, it looks like Dems cleaned up in the Oregon House, both in Colorado, Kentucky's House, and both in Minnesota. I know all of that info is probably forthcoming though.
The Democratic sweep in New Hampshire took back both the state House and Senate. Picked up 6 seats in the State Senate - flipping from a 16-8 majority for the Republicans to a 14-10 majority for the Dems (only the second time since 1905). Not sure of the final number of State House pickups, but Dems now control the State House for the first time since 1911 with at least a 213 seat majority in the 400-member body.
That's excellent news. A good friend of mine is from the area near Dartmouth, and he's a recently converted Republican who has been totally fed up with the religious right's impact on their party, and he voted straight Dem for the first time ever. I've been talking politics to him for years, and it looks like it may finally have paid off.
Man, that's really great news from New Hampshire.
The Republicans had fought for a long time to keep the ballot option of straight party line voting - it had traditionally worked in their favor. Some R's warned that it would come back to haunt them, and this cycle it did. I haven't seen any exit polling on straight line ballots, but from anecdotes, there was a huge number of Dems and Undeclareds that voted that way - helping create the tidal wave up and down the ticket...
Pre-election we were down 150 to 242 in the NH House, so it's a 63 seat pickup in that one chamber alone.
Final numbers are now looking like Dems have won 234 seats in the State House. If that holds, that's an 84 seat pick-up!
