Abortion rates, and most of the others (none / 0)

are linked to economic factors.  A primary reason for abortions is womens' fear that they cannot economically provide for a child.  Under Clinton the economy was robust and many of the benefits reached the lower rungs of the ladder.  Under Bush unemployment is up, so women can't provide and termiante a pregnancy.  Under Bush economic gains are disproportionately going to the wealthy--Company management and big shareholders.  Dividends are up, hiring is down.  Same result.

Someone who is really pro-life, rather than pro-crimnalization or pro-forced pregnancy, would support educational and job opportunities for those on the lower rungs, as well as adequate health care, including contraception.  All of these things will bring down the abortion rate and make for healthier babies.

But the debate typically isn't about those things.  It is about punishing women and the poor.

Re: Abortion rates, and most of the others (none / 0)

There's a website: http://www.fuckthesouth.com that is a kneejerk reaction to the election, but it's backed up with some pretty relevant facts about, among other things, abortion, divorce rates and murder rates.

Interesting how it all adds up.
