Donnie Fowler for DNC Chair (none / 0)

I think people should take a careful look at Donnie Fowler. He was able to build a winning coalition in Michigan for Kerry-Edwards, and he seems to be the only DNC candidate who understands both Red State America and that the Democrats have to act like an opposition party.

A good place to begin is Donnie Fowler's web site:

If Donnie Fowler wants to change the party and he encounters resistance from within the Dems, does he have the horsepower to affect change?

Re: Donnie Fowler for DNC Chair (none / 0)

One of the reasons why Kerry won Michigan is because Donnie Fowler took the initiative and had the horsepower to initiate tactics on the ground here.

Based on what happened in Michigan, I have no doubt that Donnie Fowler can overcome any resistance within the party without dividing the party.

What did Fowler do in Michigan that challenged the local Dem poohbahs? How did he cut against conventional wisdom?

For one thing, he aggressively courted the Catholic vote. For another, he did not right off the western half of the state as safe GOP territory, and he worked with the state and local parties to organize an army of lawyers to respond to GOP intimidation of voters at precinct level.
