Commence countdown for Steele's days

They are numbered.

While the RGA is breaking records, the RNC is languising and losing money under Steele. Unheard of for a Party Chair, especially given the hostile conservative energy of '09 thats building.

Now its beyond money (though its always about money) and onto the message:

House and Senate leadership aides are furious with RNC chair Michael Steele and have angrily confronted the RNC's press shop over their inability to keep the chair on message.

In the course of a regular daily conference call between senior Congressional communicators, House and Senate aides berated RNC staffers over Steele's comments that the GOP would not be able to take back the House, and that even if they did, the party would not be prepared to lead.

...

A senior RNC press aide admitted the shop had no control over Steele's interviews as he embarks on a book tour to sell his blueprint for a GOP comeback. Steele has hired a public relations firm, the RNC aide said, and the press shop has no control over when interviews are scheduled.

After an awkward silence, another aide spoke up: "You really need to have him be quiet." The call ended shortly thereafter.

Steele himself is talking about getting fired. He knows he's on the ropes.

Asked by Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity on Monday night whether the GOP could take back the House, Steele said: "Not this year."

LOL

"All I'm saying is 'cut it out,'" Steele told ABC. "If we have party differences that are inside the party, let's deal with them inside the party. You don't see the Democrats running around trying to beat up their national chairman or embarrass him."

Cue the leave Steele alone vid.

Steele is a goner

but the RGA numbers are a little misleading. The <a href="http://www.swingstateproject.com/diary/6059/november-party-committee-fundraising-roundup"&gt;NRCC isn't doing much better than the RNC</a>, and the NRSC still trails the DSCC in cash on hand.

If Steele gets canned, I hope the RNC elects that guy from South Carolina, Katon Dawson, who was the last one standing against Steele. That would scream "small tent."

The Hypocrisy

"If we have party differences that are inside the party, let's deal with them inside the party."

This from the guy who ripped into Bush and McCain in his new book? Awesome. :)

if there is a God in heaven

Steele will stay on. He is the gift that keeps on giving. What an incredibily unqualified boob.

What up, GOP!

The longer this guy holds on, the better.

But what is any GOP leader to do? How can you unite the teabaggers and sanity?

RE: What up, GOP!

Dont underestimate the role racists play in the GOP particularly those beholden to the likes of William Sessions, Jimm DeMint, David Vitter, Marsha Blackburn and Michelle Bachman, and yes, who can forget, Sarah "I despise Asians" Palin!
