Can't Keep A Good Man Down

From the Salon War Room, the Center for American Progress is giving Van Jones an office:

The New York Daily News reported Wednesday that Jones, who'd served as an advisor on green jobs, was heading to a job at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank run by Obama transition chief John Podesta. If that was true, it would be very interesting, as a sign of how the progressive establishment generally -- it doesn't get more progressive establishment than Podesta -- is still embracing Jones.

The story, though, is apparently not true -- but it's not entirely false, either. Jones isn't getting a job with CAP, a spokeswoman told Politico. But, she said, "we have offered office space for him to work out of while he figures out what he wants to do next."

Not quite the endorsement that an actual job would have been, but not far off, either.

Van Jones isn't radioactive

He's a great guy, articulate, and took one for the team. He'd be a good hire, whether he wants to work inside the Beltway or go back to California.

"And he took one for the team."

Something the I-wanna-pony crowd here in the liberal blogosphere might want to condier if they get too miffed about this.

If they were to consider that they would no longer be able to cry foul...and we all know that crying foul is what we do best.

Has CAP become pro-war in Afghanistan?  I saw something about that in Jane's recent posting.

silly hair-splitting

They might as well give him a job--they're going to be attacked for giving him office space anyway.

On the other hand, they may be struggling with funding like many other non-profits.
