Bill Clinton Secures Release Of Journalists

Great:

LONDON (Reuters) - North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has granted a "special pardon" to two jailed U.S. journalists which releases them from detention, the official KCNA news agency reported on Tuesday.

Outlets report that the two journalists are already on their way home.

Seems like Clinton was the perfect pick: he's high profile enough to satisfy the North Koreans, but he's also not officially IN the Obama administration, and therefore provides distance if the North Koreans try to make the talks about nuclear weapons.

Bolton Already Frothing

"It comes perilously close to negotiating with terrorists," Bolton told AFP when asked about Bill Clinton's trip to secure the release of journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee. [...]

"I think this is a very bad signal because it does exactly what we always try and avoid doing with terrorists, or with rogue states in general, and that's encouraging their bad behavior," Bolton said.

I love it! The minute I saw the story this morning I knew it would rankle asshats like Bolton.

While I still wonder if this undermines Hillary to a great extent, I am happy they are released (if they are really released) and hope to proven wrong in all the particulars.

Good!

Re: Bill Clinton Secures Release Of Journalists

not at all.  Hillary is a team player, and she wants the job done, she wouldn't have cared who did it if it got done.  Bill has star power, and dear leader is a Hollywood wanna be. He wants attention and Bill gave him that warm look, and chatted him up, and gave him a sense of how he'll be treated if he quits being the rogue.  Now if the fellow were only healthier maybe the disarmament deal could be reached.

Dear leader wants to talk to the US, not talk to five party people, he wants the US.  He wants to meet Tom Cruise. He wants to attend American Idol.  He wants to go to Disneyland.  And, it seems, he wants to meet Bill Clinton (me too).

Kudos to the Obama administration, including SOS Clinton, and to Bill Clinton.  Strategic brilliance and a nice job of getting egos out of the way.

yes, it's been that way, skeptics notwithstanding.  The problems we are facing are far too huge for any one person to manage, it has to be a team effort, and Barack is a team leader.
