Open Thread

Sorry about the light posting the last two days. I'm in the midst of something really, really big that will come out tomorrow and I have to finish it. In the meantime, here is an open thread. Also, check out this video of Joe Trippi and Markos talking about blogs to the Democratic establishment.

Monroe tapes; right wing conspiracy theorists
I've been hearing a lot in the news lately about how the newly surfaced tapes of Marilyn Monroe indicate she wasn't suicidal. So what are the republican conspiracy nuts saying? That Bobby Kennedy had Marilyn killed because: she was going to break up with him and she was the best sex he ever had!

I watched a 15 minute segment of this crap on MSNBC as Nixon whore Monica Crowley discussed this issue with another nut as if there was some evidence alluding to this assertion. What pissed me off is when Deep Throat surfaced she and the rest of the Nixon crowd all denied that Nixon did anything wrong and even if he did, it should never have come out! Nixon was impeached and Watergate became the biggest dirtiest scandel in presidential history and we have Nixon's own recordings to prove it. And yet here these people take pure speculation and give it national air time. Just to smear the Kennedy name.

It's taboo to discuss JFK's assassination, but speculating that Bobby Kennedy killed Marilyn is perfectly fine.

Uh, you might want to check your history - Nixon was NOT impeached.

Re: Monroe tapes; right wing conspiracy theorists
Oh, MY bad! Impeachment was inevitable so Nixon vacated the white house like a little bitch unwilling to man up and face the consequences of his actions.

Unlike Clinton who actually stuck it out and defeated the republicans by avoiding conviction on impeachment charges, and later being aquitted altogether. Ha!

Much better! :-)

Yup, thanks in no small part to the Republican Senators who didn't fall into line with the rest of the party.

BTW, my personal opinion is that the Clinton impeachment was not a good idea. I still think censure would have been the way to go, and still don't exactly buy the argument that that was not a valid punishment.

Not surprized...
The Republicans don't have much else going for them i won't get into it i won't lower myself to Monica Crowley's level. On another Note the Senate is looking a little better from my view it seems Stabenow and Cantwell look safe no good Republican has come out to challenge them and they are both in Blue states and Bill Nelson FL is also looking safe with Harris running but MN,WV,NE,MD still look close i put NE there becuse well if your a dem. from Nebraska your never "safe" as for the Republicans OH and PA look better for Dem takeover RI isn't looking as good though MT,TN,MO, and Virgina still look like uphill battle but winnable if the right candidate runs also i think the Dems. should challenge Snowe, and Lott ME,MS Snowe could retire witch would open the seat big and also this is a "Blue state" if we can tie her to the President we may be able to win here in MS well Lott is a racist and i belive that will get heavy African-American turnout agenst him if we run the right candidate and stick to the 50 state strategy. i say the Former Govenor of the state would be the best Candidate for MS not sure about ME. also on MD i'm not sure about myself on that but will try to get some numbers on it to see.

Re: Not surprized...
The only Democrat currently running for MS senate is a no-go as far as I'm concerned since he's a Larouche supporter.

Pirro Mentions Kerry On Site More Than Husband!
Jeanine Pirro, Republican candidate for US Senate has an interesting  campaign strategy on her website: run as a Democrat. Her site features numerous pages with bizarre references to John Kerry, Joe Candidate, and Gay Pride Parades.

For instance:
Philadelphia Daily News Endorses Kerry
Last week, the nation looked to the past with the death of President Ronald Reagan.
This week, the presidential campaigns of George W. Bush and John F. Kerry, suspended out of respect to the deceased 40th president, start fresh.

In that spirit, The Philadelphia Daily News, the first newspaper in the nation, endorses John Kerry for president. Unlike the current White House occupant, Kerry can lead America to a brighter, better future. He has shown the personal courage, compassion, intellect and skill to lead this country in a time of war abroad and economic troubles at home. He is a serious man for a serious time.

COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 16 U.S. Newswire -- The following fact sheet on John Kerry's plan to ease strain on working families was released today by the Kerry campaign:
With more parents working longer hours and fewer parents at home full-time than ever before, millions of families need high- quality child care and afterschool programs. But today, good child care costs more than a public university.
