Is Bush Even Running for President?

You would have a difficult time telling from his ads: Three-quarters of the ads aired by Bush's campaign have been attacks on Kerry. Bush so far has aired 49,050 negative ads in the top 100 markets, or 75 percent of his advertising. Kerry has run 13,336 negative ads -- or 27 percent of his total. The figures were compiled by The Washington Post using data from the Campaign Media Analysis Group of the top 100 U.S. markets. Both campaigns said the figures are accurate. Simple cross multiplication of these numbers leads to the following result:

Ads focusing on each candidate
Bush: 29,686
Kerry: 85,106

Ouch. What is particularly sad about the efforts of the Bush team thus far is that despite this vicious assault, Bush's favorable ratio is going down, while Kerry's favorable ratio is going up. This is especially the case where it counts the most.

Then again, Bush has screwed up everything in his Presidency, so I suppose its no surprise that he would run a lousy campaign as well.
